Udinese Calcio is a football team that came from Udine, a small town near Venice. Have never won any championships. The highest achievement was the runner-up of the Italian Cup championship about 100 years ago.
In the 2005-06 season, for the first time in history, Udinese inter-club championship of Europe's most prestigious Champions League. In qualifying, Udinese rid of Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, the final round, Udinese defeated twice Greek champions Panathinaikos, but failed to advance to the next round as the last group game failed to draw against the Spanish champions, Barcelona.
The former Udinese striker Vincenzo Iaquinta, is a member of the Italian national team squad at the 2006 World Cup. At the start of the 2007/2008 season, the team is a lot left of the regular starters, such as Morgan De Sanctis, Vincenzo Iaquinta, Sulley Muntari, and Cesare Natali.
